A true entrepreneur, Ona Love Bolyard began his business in 1937 by buying concrete formed lumber from the construction site of the Sears department store in Highland Park, Michigan. No easy task, Ona would need to clean each piece of lumber before he would then sell it out of his home garage. With a lot of hard work and persistence, Ona turned his dream into reality and opened the very first Bolyard Lumber storefront in Hazel Park where he expanded his business to sell lumber, paint, hardware, windows and trim. Following in his father's footsteps, Ona's son Dale, joined the family business in 1946 and was President of Bolyard Lumber until 1997, when he passed the position to his son, Jake.

 Today in its fourth generation and 3 storefronts later, Jake Bolyard, alongside his children and nephews, continues to own and operate under the same principle on which Ona Love formed his business more than 80 year ago – with the commitment to giving customers the best service, quality and value in the industry.
